Call for Papers: Taking Malta out of the Box
11—15 May 2011, Malta
Taking Malta out of the Box will feature presentations on insular and coastal communities worldwide. This interdisciplinary Island Dynamics conference will foster dialogue on island cultural and economic issues among representatives from academia, the business world, government, and civil society. Previously, Island Dynamics has hosted talks on such diverse topics as geopolitics, music, tourism, folk belief, nationalism, archaeology, and branding. Taking Malta out of the Box’s theme addresses how the identities of coastal communities and cultural and geographical islands develop alongside their cultures and economies. However, we welcome talks on all maritime topics, particularly comparative island studies.
Presenters will be encouraged to submit adapted versions of their conference papers
